FCHS girls win, Western Hills falls in Berea tournament

State Journal Staff Report Published:

The Franklin County Lady Flyers picked up an impressive 66-27 win over West Jessamine Tuesday night in the Berea Lady Pirate Invitational.

Western Hills didn't have the same fortune as the Lady Wolverines fell to Pulaski County 75-57.

With the win, FCHS moves on to face Berea Thursday at 5 p.m. WHHS will play Thursday at 6:30 p.m versus Hazard.

FCHS used a balanced scoring attack to knock off the Lady Colts. Franklin County led 22-4 after one quarter and 45-7 at the half.

"We played good, solid defense the whole way," FCHS coach Lenore Sparks said of her team's effort. "We were without our point guard so it was really nice to see everyone step up."
