Franklin County's boys basketball team opened play in the Dairy Queen/Pepsi Holiday Tournament at Powell County with an 88-47 win over Harlan Thursday.
At the Lady Pirate Holiday Classic in Berea Thursday, Franklin County's girls basketball team lost to Berea 90-57, and Western Hills won 63-50 over Hazard in the consolation bracket.
The Flyers (4-1) had four players in double figures, led by Adam Jones with 20 points. Daniel Moore was close behind with 19 points, followed by Paul Chambers with 14 points and Eric Eastman with 13. Jones had four steals, Moore had five, and Eastman had seven steals and seven rebounds.
FCHS led 24-11 after the first quarter and 41-19 at halftime, then outscored Harlan 31-9 in the third period.
