Flyers earn fourth in Capital Classic

Franklin County's wrestling team is off to a good start.

The Flyers finished fourth in the Capital City Classic Saturday at FCHS and were leading the tournament after the first round. That comes on the heels of a third-place finish at Anderson County's tournament Dec. 14.

FCHS senior Brandon Bailey won the 171-pound class at the Capital City Classic, pinning his opponents in all three of his matches. Senior Brandon Schreiner reached the final of the 125-pound class, and freshman John Phillips was a finalist in the 145 class. Both Schreiner and Phillips finished second in their championship matches.

"We've got seven or eight juniors, two seniors, and in the lower weight classes we have two seventh graders," FCHS coach Chris Tracy said. "They're winning some matches for us, and that helps us out." The seventh graders are Michael Parrish at 112 and Ryan Tingle at 103.
