Hopefully the new year will start off better for the Kentucky State basketball teams than it ended.
Both squads were swept by Bellarmine College Monday night in Louisville.
The KSU men fell 90-80 while the women dropped a 104-73 decision.
In the men's game, the Thorobreds led 37-36 at the half but couldn't hang on. Both teams shot well from the field in the second half, each hitting 49 percent.
Bellarmine placed six players in double figures, led by Justin Cornell, who scored 17 points coming off the bench. Cornell was 7 of 12 from the field.
