The Frankfort High girls basketball team made it two wins in a row over Franklin County this season after knocking off the Lady Flyers 56-30 Friday night at FCHS.
The win moves Frankfort to 8-3 on the season while Franklin County drops to 2-8. FHS is 3-1 in district play while FCHS is 1-3.
The Panthers led this game most of the way, but it had to be a what-if night for Franklin County, which played its first home game since losing starting point guard Brittney Williams to a probable torn ACL injury.
A junior, Williams injured her knee in the first quarter the last time the teams hooked up on Dec. 16, a 57-39 Frankfort victory.
Williams will undergo surgery this week.
"It's a big-time loss for us because of her quickness," FCHS coach Lenore Sparks said of Williams. "We're already a young team, but without her, we're younger and not as quick.
"She's such a tremendous athlete," Sparks added of Williams. "She's been the quiet hero for us because she added so much to our game. She always played great defense and she could score when she had to. She was our floor leader."
