The news appears to all be good for Frankfort High School swimming.

Coach Candi Roten says enthusiasm is up, numbers are up and quality is up.

"We're doing really well," said Roten, who's in her third year as the FHS coach. "I'm pleased that we have more kids (15) coming out for the team."

Roten credits the swimmers for that.

"The kids are responsible because they've really enjoyed swimming and they're telling their friends, 'Hey, come out. It's a lot of fun,'" she said. "It's hard work, but it's well worth it."

Robbie Semones is the wiley veteran in Frankfort High swimming. He's the lone senior for the Panthers. In fact, most of the FHS swimmers are considerably younger.

Semones just missed qualifying for state last winter in his specialty, the 100 backstroke. He could reach state this time around. That would make him the first FHS swimmer to reach that status in several years.
