O'Nan leads FCHS

By BRIAN RICKERD State Journal Sports Writer Published:

For the first time in several years Franklin County coach Kelly Caldwell does not have a state high school meet favorite, in large part because past FCHS greats like Robbie and Elizabeth Foster have moved on to college.

But the cupboard is not bare for the Flyers and Lady Flyers.

Senior Megan O'Nan leads a Franklin County team that should be a presence next month in the state meet. O'Nan's specialty is the 100 breaststroke.

"Megan O'Nan is swimming really well for the amount of practice time she gets," Caldwell said. "She's swimming 1:12s (in the 100 breast). Tonight she swam 1:13, but there was nobody pushing her. She's swimming good enough times to swim at Western Kentucky on scholarship now.

" I think she'll swim in the state meet."

That would make this O'Nan's fifth straight year of state meet experience. She was seventh in the state in the eighth grade in the breast.
