Bailey, Schreiner lead FC wrestlers

Franklin County wrestling coach Chris Tracy says it feels like senior wrestler Brandon Bailey has been around the school forever.

Which is just fine with Tracy. He can't see enough of Bailey, who's also an exceptional catcher in baseball.

"The thing about Brandon Bailey is he's so athletic," Tracy said. "I've told people this the last couple of years - Brandon may be the best athlete in the school. He should have played football for four years. He's a real good baseball player."

Bailey has been wrestling since the sixth grade, though arguably he came into his own last year as a junior when he made it to the state tournament for the first time, going 0-2 at that prestigious level.

Tracy says Bailey is all but a lock to reach state this year, too, on his last go-around.

Bailey wrestles at 171 pounds, same as last year.

"Brandon has beaten everybody in the region, so he should go to state as a one or two seed," Tracy said of Bailey. "He's moved up his performance this year. He's lost maybe a couple of matches he shouldn't have, but that happens. He wrestled a kid from South Oldham who's ranked No. 2 in the state and he wrestled him real hard and did very well. Brandon ended up losing by two points. And he was sick at the time."
