For Franklin County's girls basketball team, the win was exhilarating. For Western Hills, the loss couldn't have been more devastating.
The Lady Flyers came back from a 10-point deficit with 4 1/2 minutes to go Friday to beat Western Hills 70-64 at WHHS.
"Everyone stepped up," FCHS' Candice Lightfoot said about her team's comeback, "Ally (Campassi) especially. She hit those two big free throws. We did a good job with the press, and we were looking for open teammates. We really wanted this game."
With Franklin County winning, the seedings are set for the 41st District tournament. The Lady Flyers finish 2-4 in the district and will be the No. 3 seed. WHHS, the fourth seed, will play its final district game at home Tuesday against Woodford County, the No. 1 seed.
FCHS (4-14) controlled the first half, leading 10-5 after the first quarter and 28-19 at halftime.
The third quarter was a different story. Western Hills came out and scored the first nine points of the period to tie the game at 28-all, and in the first 5 1/2 minutes of the quarter outscored Franklin County 19-4.
