The Frankfort High Panthers held Muhlenberg North, the state's No. 14 team, on the ropes Friday night but the Stars rallied late in the game to win 67-62 Friday night in the First Kentucky Classic at Muhlenberg South High School.
Frankfort, now 11-5, led 54-49 with five minutes left in the game before Muhlenberg North tied the game on a three-pointer and a pair of free throws by Bryan Eades.
After three more ties, North pulled ahead, going five of six at the foul line with just 18 seconds remaining.
Senior Chris Current got the Panthers within three with a basket but Tyler Mayes canned two free throws with seven seconds left to ice the win.
The Stars finished the game 23 of 26 at the free throw line.
