Passing, defense spark FCHS by WHHS, 59-47

The Franklin County Flyers picked apart Western Hills with terrific interior passing and played solid defense against the impatient Wolverines in cruising to a 59-47 win in boys basketball action on Friday night.

Franklin County improved to 10-6 while Western Hills slipped to 3-13.

Senior guard Daniel Moore led Franklin County with 18 points, but many of his points were set up by the Flyers' ability to penetrate the teeth of the WHHS defense and get easy buckets from senior center Eric Eastman and senior forward Derrick Morriss.

Eastman chipped in 15 points and Morriss added nine.

Franklin County coach Lewis Morris says passing is one area his team has improved from a year ago.

"They've improved some things we've worked on, especially from last year, and every once in awhile it shows," said Morris, who's in his second year at FCHS. "Our passing especially ... we're more under control. I think they understand more what we want them to do."
