Lady Panthers upset Anderson

By SUSAN RIDDELL State Journal Sports Writer Published:

This season the Frankfort High Lady Panthers have beaten the teams they were supposed to beat and have lost to the ones who were favored against them.

All that changed Thursday night, however, when the Lady Panthers pulled off a mild upset, knocking off a good Anderson County girls basketball team 42-36 at F.D. Wilkinson Gym.

The Lady Cats defeated Franklin County 70-52 Monday night and knocked off defending 11th Region champion Woodford County (18-3) 78-77 in triple overtime two weeks ago.

"As hard as we have worked the last two years, this is the first win we can really hang our hat on," Frankfort coach Joey Thacker said. "Tonight everything finally paid off.

"I told the seniors before the game, this was a good opportunity to beat a good team and put a stamp on the program," Thacker added. "We finally beat somebody that we weren't supposed to beat."
