The Franklin County girls basketball team had two opponents Thursday night.
Madison Southern and the nasty flu bug going around.
The Lady Flyers appeared to have conquered both.
Franklin County defeated Madison Southern 54-41 in the final home game of the season for the Lady Flyers.
"We've really been battling the flu bug this week," FCHS coach Lenore Sparks said of her team, now 6-16. "Several girls have been out of practices and it's been hard on us. You could tell we were tired and dragging our feet out there."
While Franklin County's play was sloppy at times - the Lady Flyers committed 24 turnovers - the defense was good for the most part.
Madison Southern committed 25 turnovers, as well, in the game. Most came during the decisive third quarter.
The Lady Flyers trailed 28-24 at the half but outscored the Lady Eagles 20-2 in the third period. Madison Southern's lone points in the quarter were two free throws by Jessica Anderson.
