WHHS falls to lady Jaguars

By SUSAN RIDDELL State Journal Sports Writer Published:

The Western Hills girls basketball team hasn't been at full strength of late, and the Lady Wolverines haven't seen much of the gym lately either due to bad weather.

But WHHS was still in the game Thursday night versus East Jessamine.

The Lady Jaguars, however, came away with a 43-41 win after WHHS couldn't get off a good shot in the closing seconds.

"Considering all we've been through lately, I thought everyone we played gave a great effort," said Western Hills assistant coach John Senter.

Senter was filling in for head coach Bryan Edwards, who spent the day with his family after his wife, Marie, gave birth to the couple's fourth child.

The Lady Wolverines haven't played since Feb. 8 when they lost to Shelby County. It's been even longer than that for several players who have been either sick or hurt.
