Local teams competed in the Mason Dixon indoor track and field championships this past weekend at the Broadbent Arena in Louisville.
Frankfort High senior Jackie Gordon broke a 13-year-old Class A state record in the girls 800 by nearly four seconds shortly after finishing third in the 55 meter dash. Gordon also won the girls 400.
The Frankfort girls finished fifth in the Class A team standings.
Junior Ryan Quire turned in PR's finishing second to Somerset's Sarah Cole in the 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs. Ephraim Fields had a PR in the shot put, good enough for second place as well.
In Class AA, top five finishers included Franklin County's Nick Burchfield, fourth in the 55 meter dash and Western Hills Matt Hebert, who finished fifth in the boys 800.
Second Street's boys team dominated the middle school competition with Cameron Jouett winning the long jump and Antoine Robinson winning the 200. Josh Smith was second in the shot put, missing first by less than two inches.
