Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU)'s Wetherby Chapter will hold its 27th annual fund-raising banquet and auction Friday evening, March 7, at Frankfort Country Club.
Collector-edition shotguns, framed wildlife prints, hand-carved decoys, knives, and a wide variety of official DU-logo items top a long list of exciting auction items.
For the 16th consecutive year, Frankfort veterinarian Dr. Clint Bevins is donating a Labrador puppy for the auction. The Lab pup is a Wetherby Chapter tradition and always generates lots of bidding action.
Interested DU supporters are strongly urged to purchase their tickets in advance, as walk-in sales at the door will be strictly limited.
"Last year we had to turn folks away at the door," said banquet chairman Mark Matuszewski. "We have to limit our numbers to ensure a fun and enjoyable event for all who attend."
Named in honor of former Governor Lawrence Wetherby, the Frankfort chapter has become one of Kentucky's premier banquet committees.
"The Wetherby Chapter is proud to play a role in the important work DU is doing here in Kentucky and throughout North America," said Matuszewski. "Thanks to strong community support and a hard-working committee, our small chapter has raised and donated tens upon tens of thousands of dollars for waterfowl and wetland conservation."
