Boys district tournament is wide open

State Journal Staff report Published:

Frankfort High boys basketball coach Scott Chalk predicted in the preseason the 41st District was going to be tight race with all four teams having a legitimate chance to win the tournament.

Chalk appears to have been right.

Play gets underway Tuesday night with Chalk's Panthers taking on Western Hills, followed by Franklin County taking on Woodford County Wednesday night.

The winners of those two games will meet in the finals Friday night. All games will be played at Woodford County High School.

"I said before the season started it was going to be a dogfight," Chalk said of the district race. "Everybody's playing well and anyone of us can win it."

The Panthers and Flyers both went 5-1 in district play while Woodford County and the Wolverines finished 1-5. Coin flips decided the seeding with Frankfort earning the No. 1 seed and Woodford the No. 3 spot.
