Meghan Bottom has played volleyball for just four years, but in that time she's come a long way.
Now the Franklin County senior is headed to Georgetown College after signing with the school Thursday.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge of playing at a higher level of volleyball," said Bottom, who chose Georgetown over Coker College in South Carolina. "I wanted a small school and I wanted to be close to home."
Bottom, a 6-foot hitter for Franklin County, finished off a great career last fall, leading FCHS to the school's first appearance in the state tournament, and a top eight finish.
She holds several records at FCHS including nearly all kills and blocks honors.
Lady Flyer coach Kate Dominick said Bottom was a once-in-a-lifetime player.
"She's an all-around student athlete and she worked hard at every practice," Dominick said. "She was our leader, our strongest hitter and she just did everything right.
"The best part of her game is that she's a smart player," added Dominick. "She can play at the net, she can block, she can hit well, and she always knew where the other team was on the court. She has a great grasp of court awareness."
Pretty astonishing for someone who took up the game just four years ago.
