Regional pairings decided

The Frankfort High boys basketball team will face West Jessamine in the opening round of the Boys 11th Region Tournament Wednesday night while the Lady Panthers will open up with a familiar opponent in Berea on the girls side.

The boys tournament begins Tuesday at Eastern Kentucky University with Henry Clay (23-4) facing Woodford County (10-14) at 6:30 p.m., followed by Berea (6-19) and defending state champion Lexington Catholic (23-7) at 8:15.

Wednesday's first game will be Madison Central (14-11) versus Lafayette (18-8) before FHS (21-9) takes on the Colts (15-11) at 8:15 p.m.

The semifinals are set for Friday night at 6:30 and 8:15 p.m. with the final on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

West Jessamine coach Matthew Yates was an assistant under Frankfort coach Scott Chalk for two seasons from 1999-2001.
