TNT competes in state B meet

Special to The State Journal Published:

Swimmers from Thorobred Nautical Team (TNT) finished second overall out of 12 teams participating in the Kentucky Swimming State B Championships-West Division in Owensboro March 7-9. The only team finishing ahead of TNT was Wildcat Aquatics based at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Other teams participating were Owensboro Mercy Marlins, Screaming Eagles Association (Fort Campbell), Paducah Swim Team, Hopkins County Family YMCA, Pennyrile Aquatic Club, Central Kentucky Tiger Sharks, Vette City Stingrays, Dolphin Swimming (Elizabethtown), Southern Kentucky Swim Club and Greater Bowling Green.

The State B Championships are designed to allow swimmers who have not previously qualified for the State A Championships, which will be held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky this weekend, an opportunity to make qualifying times.

As a result of this meet five TNT swimmers qualified for seven events in the State A Championships. They were Heather Ayer, Becky Gillig, Amanda Howard, Kirsten Nitz and Sloane True.

Becky Gillig, Amanda Howard and Kirsten Nitz took first place in individual events, while six TNT relay teams won their events.
