Both Western Hills coach Chad Wallace and Frankfort coach Ben Moore got what they wanted out of Friday's boys high school tennis match at the Juniper Hills Park courts.
Wallace's experienced Wolverines picked up an 8-1 win, but Moore's Panthers made Western Hills fight for every point.
Nearly all the matches were tight after Frankfort junior Thomas Sachtler beat WHHS senior Kevin Cantrell 8-0 at No. 1 singles and Frank Thomas and Adam Duvall of the Wolverines beat Shawn Goins and Dan Evans 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Western Hills improved to 2-1, while Frankfort fell to 0-3.
"So far this year I've been pleased," said Wallace, who's in his first year coaching at Western Hills. "It's been good to have all the players from last year returning this year. It gives us some continuity and leadership."
Wallace has only three seniors on his team - Cantrell, Eric Skaggs and Vamsi Kuchipudi.
Three other seeded players who played Friday - Duvall at No. 2, Thomas at No. 3 and Aaron Lawrence at No. 4 - are all juniors. Evan Hudson, who played No. 5 for WHHS Friday, is a sophomore.
