Panthers get first win

By SUSAN RIDDELL State Journal Sports Writer Published:

LEXINGTON - The Frankfort High baseball team was one out away from its first win of the season Friday afternoon in the opening round of the All A regional baseball tournament.

But that out proved to be hard to come by.

The Panthers, coming into the game 0-4, wound up losing a heartbreaker to Danville 7-5, in round one before falling 11-5 to Lexington Christian in the second game of a double-header.

Frankfort, Danville, Lexington Christian and Model are the only four teams competing in the tournament, which combines regions 11 and 12. The teams played a round robin and the two teams with the best records will face off today for the championship.

That game, featuring LCA and Danville will take place at 4 p.m. Frankfort and Model will play today at 1:30 p.m. in the consolation game.

All tournament games are being held at Lexington Christian Academy.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the state All A Classic, May 3, at Applebee's Park in Lexington.
