Frankfort High's girls track and field team was runner-up in the North Central Kentucky Track Conference meet Saturday at Henry County.
The Lady Panthers finished with 140 points, and Pendleton County won with 157 points. FHS' Monica Higgins, Leesa Unger and Ryan Quire just missed MVP honors. Each helped score 38 points for Frankfort, but Lauren Gahaher of Holy Cross scored 40 points.
The FHS boys team, led by meet MVP Emmanuel Fields, took third place with 98 points. Holy Cross won the boys division with 138 points, and Pendleton County was runner-up with 125 points. Fields scored 38 points for the Panthers.
"It was a great team effort by both the girls and the boys," FHS coach Frank Miklavcic said. "We got about as much as we could out of everyone all day long."
Frankfort standouts Jackie Gordon and Alex Oder didn't participate in the NCKTC meet but competed at the Male Bulldog Classic Saturday.
In the middle school division, Second Street's boys team won the meet with 129 points, and Pendleton County was second with 111. Capital Day placed eighth.
Capital Day finished as runner-up on the girls side with 88 points, and Second Street was fifth with 37 points. St. Francis won the meet with 149 points.
