Shelby rolls past FHS

By LINDA YOUNKIN State Journal Sports Writer Published:

A week ago Frankfort High's softball team led against Shelby County before losing 7-5 in Shelbyville.

It was a different story Monday.

The Lady Rockets came away with a 21-3 victory over FHS at Lakeview Park. The game was called after five innings on the mercy rule.

"They came to play, and we didn't," FHS assistant coach Bobby Wilson said. "That makes a big difference. As young as we are, we have to come to play."

Shelby took control of the game in the first inning, scoring five runs, and the Lady Rockets added a run in the second inning.

Frankfort scored its first run in the bottom of the second. With two outs Cassie Aldridge and Nicole Smith both reached on errors, with Aldridge scoring when Smith went to first on the second error of the inning.
