Myrissa Patton's slump ended at just the right time for Franklin County's softball team.
The senior catcher had two hits and drove in three runs, including the game winner, as the Lady Flyers beat Woodford County 5-4 Thursday at Sally Gaines Field.
Patton came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning with the game tied at 4-all, one out, and a runner on third. Her single drove in Sarah Wilson, running for Michelle Farler, with the winning run.
"I was nervous," Patton said, "but I knew I'd get a hit. I had the confidence I could do it because I'd gotten a hit earlier in the game, but I was still nervous."
With FCHS trailing 4-3, Amy Eichhorn opened the bottom of the seventh with a base hit and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Stephanie Vincent. A single by Farler scored Eichhorn, and Farler went to second on the throw home. Wilson then came into the game to run for Farler and went to third on a wild pitch, setting up Patton's heroics.
