After one inning Tuesday, Scott County's baseball team led 1-0.
After five innings, the game was called on the mercy rule with Franklin County winning 11-1 at home.
"We were just going through the motions," FCHS coach Deron McDonald said of his team's play in the first inning, "but our hitting performance tonight was pretty darned good."
The Cardinals had just three hits on the night, but two came in the first inning when they took the 1-0 lead.
Scott County kept the lead until the second inning when FCHS opened its half of the second with back-to-back doubles by Brandon Bailey and Seth Armstrong, good for one run.
After a popup for one out, Armstrong went to third when Brian May grounded out to short and scored on a single by Bryan Scott.
That gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead, and they were never in trouble after that.
