Brad Kennedy's focus has been on soccer, and now he'll have the chance to play the sport on the collegiate level.
Kennedy, a senior at Frankfort High, recently signed with Georgetown College.
"I heard from three or four schools," Kennedy said, "but Georgetown was the first that really showed a lot of interest in me. It was the best fit academically and athletically.
"It's a good program," he added. "They're young, very young. They started four freshmen this year, and if I work hard I might get some playing time right off the bat."
Georgetown coach Jim Tussey says that's a distinct possibility.
"He has good, quality skills," Tussey said about Kennedy, "and he takes care of the ball. If the motivation is good, and the desire's there he'll see some playing time. We lost seven seniors to graduation, and he could play some good quality minutes.
"A lot of it is getting used to the college game," he added, "the physicalness of the college game and the speed of play. There's the adjustment to the college game and college life, what to do with time on your hands. Anything a freshman can give us is seen as a real bonus."
