Thomas sets meet record at Woodford

The Franklin County and Western Hills track teams competed in the Woodford County track and field meet Saturday in Versailles.

The Western Hills boys, led by senior Jonathan Thomas, finished ninth in the meet. Thomas won the 1,600 run, setting a meet record with a time of 4:24.29, and was second in the 3,200 meter run. His time of 9:53.00 in the 3,200 bested the WHHS school record of 9:57.00, set by Justin Thompson in 1991.

Thomas shared with Woodford County's Zach Wilder the Meet Performance Award given to the top male performers at the Invitational.

The Franklin County boys finished 14th in the meet while the FCHS girls were 11th. Flyer Nick Burchfield set a PR in the boys 200, finishing third with a time of 22.90.
