The Western Hills softball team won the Belfry Bash Classic this past weekend, going 3-1 in tournament play. The Lady Wolverines defeated Belfry in the finals 9-0.
"Our defense is getting better and we really hit the ball well this weekend," WHHS coach Enoch Welch said of his team. "This team really needed a confidence builder and hopefully this tournament will give them that. We have played a tough schedule and it is starting to pay off for us.
"I can't say enough about how well Courtney (Wiard) played during these two days," Welch added.
Wiard pitched two one-hitters for WHHS and was 9-for-13 at the plate, including a home run.
