FHS loses to Mercer

Frankfort High's rally fell short as Mercer County took a 14-9 win over the Lady Panthers in high school softball action Friday at Lakeview Park.

FHS led 1-0 after the first inning with a single by Brittney Brewer, a double by Cassie Aldridge and two errors.

Mercer tied the game in the second inning, then went ahead 8-1 after the top of third with five hits, two hit batsmen and four walks.

The Lady Panthers made the score 8-6 in the bottom of the third with singles by Kaylan McDonald and Amanda Moore, a double by Danielle Butler and four walks.

The score stayed 8-6 until the sixth inning when Mercer scored five runs on two walks, a double, two singles and an error. FHS picked up two runs in the bottom of the sixth with a double by Aldridge, a sacrifice by McDonald, an error and two walks.

That made the score 13-8 going into the seventh inning, when both teams scored one run. The Lady Scotties' last run came on a double and two groundouts, and Frankfort's came with a walk, an error and a fielder's choice.
