Franklin County's softball team took early command of Thursday's game with Grant County and went on to win 6-0 at Sally Gaines Field.
The Lady Flyers scored all the runs they needed in the first inning as Amy Eichhorn and Carrie Bistline led off with back-to-back singles. Stephanie Vincent reached on an error to load the bases, and a walk to Michelle Farler scored Eichhorn. Another run scored when Myrissa Patton hit into a fielder's choice, giving FCHS a 2-0 advantage.
Franklin County picked up a run in the third inning as Vincent singled, went to third on a base hit by Farler and scored when Lydia McKinney lined out to short.
In the fourth inning FCHS went ahead 4-0. With two outs, Amy Moore hit an infield single, and a double by Eichhorn sent Moore to third. Bistline followed with a single to score Moore.
Farler and McKinney both singled in the fifth inning and scored on a triple by Sarah Boden to make the final score 6-0.
Eichhorn pitched a two-hitter for the Lady Flyers, giving up singles to Shelly Work and D.D. Smith. Work pitched for Grant County.
