RICHMOND - Frankfort High's Jackie Gordon and Ryan Quire combined for five victories Saturday in the Class A Region 4 track and field meet, leading the Lady Panthers to a runner-up finish in the team standings.

Danville won the meet, held at Eastern Kentucky University, with 123 points while Frankfort finished with 112. Fairview was a distant third with 75 points.

"Toward the end, we were a good 30, 40 points behind Danville so I was real pleased with the way we finished," Frankfort coach Frank Miklavcic said of his girls. "Overall, it was a great job by the girls."

On the boys side, Raceland won with 136 points and Danville was second with 88. Frankfort finished in seventh with 28 points.

Gordon won three events Saturday including the 200-, 400- and 800-meter runs while Quire picked up wins in the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200.

In Gordon's first event of the day, the 100-meter dash, Gordon was a close second behind Lexington Christian's Elisabeth Jones, who won with a time of 12.98. Gordon's time was 13.00.

"That was the only race where I was really tense," Gordon said of the 100. "It's not one of my favorites and I've only competed in it four times this year.

"The main thing was, I tried to stay as relaxed as possible and concentrate on my technique."
