Academics have always been a priority with Bryan Scott. So when the chance to play college baseball came along at a good school, he couldn't pass it up.
Scott, who recently graduated from Franklin County High School, has signed to play baseball at Georgetown College.
"I looked at Murray State but just Georgetown for baseball," said Scott, who finished with a 4.1 grade-point average at FCHS. "The academic aspect of it was the most important part, but I'm excited about the opportunity to play baseball at the next level, too."
That made Georgetown a perfect fit.
"It's a small classroom atmosphere and everybody knows everybody," Scott said when asked what he liked about the school. "I like the baseball program, too. Coach (Jim) Hinerman is really nice and I hope to learn a lot and develop my baseball game more."
At Georgetown, Scott will join his older brother Daniel, who will be a junior on the baseball team, as well as several other local players.
"It's a nice aspect of it," Scott said of joining his brother's team. "There are a couple of other guys there I'm friends with and have played baseball with before."
Scott played three sports at Franklin County. Besides baseball, he was on the basketball team and ran cross country as well, finishing fifth in the Class AA Region 3 cross country meet as a senior.
