Frankfort 13s defeat Shelby

The Frankfort Babe Ruth 13-year-old baseball all-stars defeated Shelby County 10-5 Saturday afternoon in the district tournament at Franklin County High School.

The win sends Frankfort into action today at 2 p.m. versus NCKBA North in a losers bracket matchup.

Frankfort had to rally from four runs down to get the win over Shelby County.

Trailing 5-1, Frankfort tied the game at 5-all in the fourth inning. Cameron Flynn hit a one-out double and Ryan Belcher reached on an error. Josh Shackelford then doubled home Flynn with Belcher taking third. Both Belcher and Shackelford came in to score on a hit by Brandon May, who eventually scored to tie things up on a base hit by Adam Johnson.

Frankfort took the lead in the next inning when Devin Leitch led off with a single, stole second and scored on a hit by Flynn.

Frankfort added four insurance runs in the sixth on consecutive singles by Jacob Hicks, Jordan Hall, Leitch and Flynn.
