15-year-olds head to state tournament

The Frankfort 15-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars cruised to the district championship last weekend in Henry County, sending the team to the state tournament, which begins today in Russell Springs.

Frankfort, coming out of the winners bracket, defeated Oldham County 13-7 in the championship game to win the district crown.

Oldham County led 3-2 after one inning with Frankfort's runs coming on a walk to Colton Riggs, a single by Matt Carlisle and RBI-singles by Steven Kull and Chase Straw.

Frankfort took the lead in the second inning, going up 6-4.

In the second, Josh Brown led off with a base hit and Robert Gates reached on an error. After a popup, Matt Carlisle reached on an error, as well. Kull followed with an RBI-hit and Neil Dutta tripled to finish off the scoring.

Frankfort scored two runs in three of the next four innings to pull away, before adding a final run in the seventh.
