16-year-olds finish second in tourney

The Frankfort 16-year-old baseball team finished second in a tournament in Northern Kentucky last weekend, playing some of the top teams in Greater Cincinnati.

With a 19-15 record, the team will play this weekend in its final tournament of the summer - the state tournament.

Frankfort started the Travis Alig Memorial Tournament with a disappointing loss on Saturday, falling 6-5 to Union after leading 5-2.

Hitters for Frankfort included Joe Hyatt with a double, Nick Keaton with two singles, and Mark Gardner, Will Current, Matt Kennedy, Jake McDonald and Matt Satterwhite with a single apiece.

McDonald and Gardner pitched.

In its second game, Frankfort came back strong, beating the host Erlanger Lions 10-2.

Hyatt pitched a complete-game victory.

Frankfort's hitters were J.W. Brown with two singles and a double, Current and Seth Armstrong with two singles each, Hyatt with a double, Gardner, Kennedy, McDonald, Satterwhite and Mason McCoin with a single apiece.
