Franklin County's boys golf team had first, second and third place finishes in the Flyer Classic Monday at Juniper Hill.
The Flyers won the tournament with a score of 291, FCHS senior Matt Way took second place with a two-under-par 68, and teammate Lee Rarden was third after shooting a 69.
"I'm very excited," FCHS coach James Myers said, "and very happy with the way we played. For our No. 1 and 2 players to play as poorly as they did and we still win, that says a lot about our depth and it shows how important every kid out there is. All five have to come ready to play."
Way's 68 tied him for first place with George Rogers Clark's Andrew Davis, and Davis took medalist honors in a one-hole playoff. Rarden and Drew Hale of Madison Central tied for third, and Rarden won that playoff on the first hole to take third place.
Rounding out the scores for the FCHS No. 1 team were Robert Oliver with a 74, Brandon Gaines with an 80, and David Haydon with an 81.
"I thought Lee would play well, and he did," Myers said. "He's been playing well lately. Matt Way was tremendous. That's probably as good a round of golf as I've seen him play and not just scoring, but his ball striking, the way he managed his game was superb. I'm tickled to death for him.
