Frankfort High's boys soccer team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, shutting out Campbellsville 9-0 at the Bellepoint Soccer Complex.
The Panthers opened the scoring just five minutes into the match and never looked back.
"I felt like we made a lot of strides as far as our passing game," FHS coach Sherrill Smith said. "In the second half we improved greatly on our passing. We're young, and they're a young team, too."
Ramie Hutchison opened the scoring for Frankfort with 35 minutes left in the first half. Five minutes later Davis Bates headed a ball down to Than Cutler who scored for a 2-0 lead.
For the third goal Claiborne Gibson passed to Matt Mitchell at midfield, who shot from the top of the middle of the box. Gibson then played a through ball to Davis Bates, who scored from in front of the net.
Gibson closed out the first-half scoring with a goal from the top of the 18 that went into the top of the net.
Early in the second half Bates and Cutler again teamed up for a goal. On an indirect kick Bates back heeled the ball to Cutler for the goal.
Thomas Sachtler made a 30-yard run and scored from 12 yards out off an assist from Mitchell. Joe Mettille later took a shot that bounced off the cross bar and was headed in by Eric Smith for a goal and an 8-0 lead.
