Despite injuries, Lady Wolverines rally late for tie

The Western Hills girls soccer team lost another key player to an injury Monday night but rallied for a 2-2 tie against Mercer County at Sower Soccer Field.

The Lady Wolverines are now 4-2-1 on the season while the Lady Scotties are 2-5-1. Mercer County defeated Franklin County 3-2 Saturday and are coached by Franklin County High School graduate Scott Dodson.

Western Hills lost junior Davin Caudill midway through the first half Monday when she reaggrevated a leg injury. The Lady Wolverines were also playing without sophomore midfielder Jessica Florence, who has an injured ankle.

"Maybe we do rely on Davin a little too much," WHHS coach Keith Jackson said. "Not having Jessica at midfield hurts us as well, because she does a good job containing and maintaining possession of the ball."

But the Lady Wolverines still managed to pull out the tie after rallying from a 2-0 deficit. Mercer County's Chelsea Goodman scored in the first half after the ball deflected off the WHHS goal, and she scored again less than two minutes into the second half.
