It's district time for the Western Hills and Franklin County football teams this weekend, and it's homecoming time for Frankfort High.
The Wolverines will host Bourbon County Friday night while the Flyers will travel to face Lexington Catholic, which is ranked third in Class 3A.
The undefeated Panthers, ranked eighth in Class A, will host Newport.
Here's a look at the matchups.
Bourbon Co. (1-2)
at Western Hills (1-2)
Both the Wolverines and Colonels are coming off hard-fought games versus crosstown rivals.
WHHS fell to Frankfort 13-7 while Bourbon County defeated Paris 26-6 last Friday. It was the Colonels' first win of the season.
"They look pretty good on film," Wolverine coach Scott Mooney said of the Colonels. "They have size on their line and a quick tailback."
That tailback is senior Robert Christopher, who was the state's top rusher a year ago. Christopher ran for nearly 1,900 yards with an average of 211 yards per game.
