Franklin County and Western Hills' football teams will be going after their first district wins Friday night while Frankfort High has the week off before opening district play next week.
The Flyers will be traveling to Lawrenceburg to face Anderson County, and WHHS will be in Nicholasville to take on East Jessamine. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
Franklin Co. (2-2, 0-1)
at Anderson Co. (0-4, 0-1)
Lexington Catholic was an inhospitable host last Friday, beating Franklin County 69-0, but that game didn't dampen the Flyers' spirits.
"They had a renewed vigor to working hard this week," FCHS coach Donny Walker said about his team. "They have decided they want to come back, work hard and get back on the winning track."
The Flyers have convincing wins over Casey and Grant counties, and they lost a close game to Frankfort High before opening the district at Lexington Catholic.
Anderson lost its district opener last week 24-12 to Harrison County. In their other games, the Bearcats have fallen to Woodford County 40-6, Shelby County 56-8 and Mercer County 26-6.
"They're about 50-50 run to pass," Walker said of ACHS. "They've changed their offensive schemes up from the beginning of the season to now. They spread the field quite a bit more."
The Bearcats were hurt by turnovers against Harrison, losing the ball five times. Three of those turnovers led to scores by the Thorobreds.
