FCHS takes dual match

A scheduling mix-up made Lexington Christian's girls golf team a no-show Thursday, so Franklin County and Western Hills celebrated senior night by themselves at Juniper Hill.

The Lady Flyers won the dual match 179-200 with FCHS' Rachel Oliver taking medalist honors with a 41.

While the victory gave Franklin County an undefeated season in match play, it didn't show the Lady Flyers at their best.

"I definitely think that's due to the emotion of the day," FCHS coach Drex Davis said. "Those four girls have all been on the team since they were in the fourth grade, and it was very emotional for them today."

Franklin County's seniors are Oliver, Holly Kell, Alex Cunningham and Kelly Taulbee. Western Hills' seniors are Morgan Rodgers and Lacey Games.

"I didn't play well," Oliver said. "It was kind of bogey golf. We played in twosomes, so it was really fast. I played with another senior, Morgan, and we just had fun."

With the boys Hilen Cup competition bumped back a day because of Monday's rain, the girls match Thursday was played on the back side of Juniper.
