The Frankfort High Panthers lost Thursday to Bourbon County 5-2 in a game of missed opportunities.
The Panthers got off to a bad start by being charged an own goal from a misplayed ball in the 30th minute of play.
In the 13th minute on a breakaway, Davis Bates missed just wide of the goal, then Than Cutler missed just over the cross bar in the 8th minute.
A defensive mistake allowed Bourbon County to increase its lead to 2-0 in the last minute of the first half when Nick Spaulding scored from eight yards out.
In the second half it appeared that Frankfort was well on its way to righting the ship when in the 37th minute, Bates was pushed down from behind in the box. Cutler put the Panthers on the board with the ensuing penalty kick.
