Owen County came out on the attack, and that helped the Rebels take third place in the Frankfort High Invitational boys soccer tournament Thursday.
Owen defeated FHS 4-2 in the consolation game at Sower Soccer Field, and Rowan County won the championship game 4-0 over Grant County.
"It's very disappointing losing," FHS coach Sherrill Smith, "and it's disappointing that it happened on senior night after taking care of business. We didn't come out of the gate right, and with a young team sometimes you struggle getting out of the gate."
The Rebels scored the game's first goal on a shot by Chasse Clark with 30:46 left in the first half, and they went ahead 2-0 on an own goal by Frankfort.
With just two minutes left in the half Than Cutler scored for the Panthers off a corner kick, making the halftime score 2-1.
Davis Bates tied the game for FHS with 22:22 remaining with the assist going to Thomas Sachtler, but the tie lasted just about 10 seconds as Clark scored to put Owen ahead 3-2. The Rebels picked up their last score on an own goal with 53 seconds left.
