Kentucky State's men's basketball team won its third game in a row Tuesday, beating Fort Valley State 82-79 in Fort Valley, Ga. KSU's women lost 70-60.
The Thorobreds were clinging to an 80-79 lead with eight seconds to go in Tuesday's game. Fort Valley had the ball, and point guard James Perry attempted to go one-on-one against KSU's defense.
K-State's Thomas Beavers knocked the ball out of Perry's hands. Teammate Ricky Green picked up the ball and passed to Shawn Graves, who threw down a dunk as the buzzer sounded for a final score of 82-79.
Green and Fort Valley's Allen Early both scored 29 points. Green finished with seven three-pointers, going 7-for-13 from behind the arc, and he also had a team-high five assists. Early led all players with 14 rebounds.
Graves went 7-for-11 from the field, including 1-for-2 on three-pointers, for 15 points, and he also led KSU with seven rebounds. Beavers was a perfect 3-for-3 on threes and 5-for-6 from the foul line for 14 points.
