Jerry Bingham couldn't explain it.

The Berea girls basketball coach was asked a simple question after his Lady Pirates rallied to defeat Frankfort High 40-31 Wednesday night in the semifinals of the All A 11th Region tournament at F.D. Wilkinson gym.

What happened to your team in the fourth quarter?

"I'm not sure," Bingham answered. "I don't know what that was, but I told my girls I wish we had two or three more quarters to play like that. We were so bad early on, but so good in the fourth quarter."

The win sends Berea into Friday night's championship game versus Lexington Christian. The Lady Eagles, who are the defending All A 11th Region champs, won the second semifinal Wednesday, knocking off Model 65-54.

It's a championship game FHS coach Nikki Smith thought her team would be playing in.

"I really thought we'd win this game," she said of the Berea matchup.

Through three quarters, that appeared to be the case.
