Balanced attack leads Frankfort

The Frankfort High girls basketball team was running on all cylinders against Augusta Monday night at F.D. Wilkinson gym.

FHS scored the first 19 points of the game, in fact, before cruising to a 76-39 win.

"We had a lot of things to work on and that's what we did," said Frankfort coach Nikki Smith. "We wanted to work on our press, our press rotation and trapping.

"We also worked on running our offense," Smith added. "There are still things we need to work on like our shooting, but we're getting better."

Frankfort was never threatened in the game and improved to 5-13 on the season. Augusta is still looking for its first win of the season and is currently 0-15.

Smith's team got balanced scoring and placed five players in double figures, led by senior Brittany Wilson with 16 points. Starters Megan Roberts and Brittany Howard added 12 points each, as did reserve Bethany Leonard.

Ashleigh Boone also had a good game coming off the bench. She finished with 10 points.

Leonard and Howard had double-doubles, in fact. Leonard pulled down 12 rebounds and Howard had 10.
