More swimmers headed to state

Western Hills has had one additional individual swimmer and two girls relay teams qualify for the state swim meet Feb. 25-26 at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium.


The swimmers advanced based on their times at last week’s Region 3 meet. WHHS’ girls swim team finished third at the regional meet, its best finish ever in the region.


Advancing to state will be Robert Sell in the 100-yard backstroke and 50-yard freestyle, and the girls 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.


Swimming on the 200 free relay last week were Sydney Sell, Alexis Stiens, Katherine Caldwell and Anna Hawkins, and swimming the 400 free relay were Hawkins, Kendall Stiens, Sydney Bratcher and Sell.


Sydney Sell qualified for state in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke by winning both events at the Region 3 meet.
