The Berea Pirates busted loose for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past the Frankfort Panthers, 8-5, in the semifinals of the All A Regional baseball tournament Thursday night at Lexington Christian Academy.
The Pirates move on to face host LCA tonight at 7:30 for the regional championship.
Berea sprayed four hits and took advantage of several Frankfort miscues in the field in the critical sixth inning.
Chance Hudnall started on the mound for the Panthers and had relief help from A.J. Bramble with one out in the sixth inning.
Hudnall got off to rocky start, surrendered two Berea runs in the first inning. Hudnall threw 31 pitches in that frame, as the Pirates scored two runs in just one hit and one FHS error. But Hudnall settled down and pitched very well through the middle innings.
The Panthers came back to score two runs in the third and three in the fourth to seize control at 5-2.
Dre’ Scott had the biggest hit for FHS - a two-out, two-run triple in the fourth. He later scored on a Berea error.
Collin Harris was two-for-three at the plate for Frankfort, with a double and a single. Cody Hall, Dennis Martin and Conner Slone hit one single apiece for the Panthers.
