Lady Flyers tennis rolls past Shelby

Franklin County’s girls tennis team shut out Shelby County 5-0 Monday at the FCHS courts.

In matches played last week, the Lady Flyers defeated Frankfort High 4-1, Trimble County 5-0 and Western Hills 5-0.

FCHS (9-4) plays its next match Wednesday at home against Oldham County.

FCHS 5, Shelby Co. 0

Singles – Lili Williams (FC) def. Yen Ling Chen 6-2, 6-3; Kelley Barker (FC) def. Hailey Coffey 6-1, 6-0; Morgan McElmurray (FC) def. Melanie Roley 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles – Brooke Barber-Sydney Preston (FC) def. Abbey Gowan-Melanie Roley 6-0, 6-0; Deena Shewekah-Abbi Stamper (FC) def. Rachel Dove-Emalee Turley 6-1, 6-1.

FCHS 4, FHS 1

Singles – Jenna Miller (FH) def. Lili Williams 6-4, 6-1; Brooke Barber (FC) def. Lydia Miller 6-4, 6-0; Rachel Hampton (FC) def. McKenzie Anders 6-1,6-2.

Doubles – FCHS won No. 1 doubles by forfeit; Deena Shewekah-Abbi Stamper (FC) def. Georgia Ueltschi-Leighann Neal 6-0, 6-0.
